Devin DeLapp

Wealth advisor and stakeholder, SFMG Wealth Advisors

When Devin DeLapp become a stakeholder in a $2 billion wealth advisory firm at 26, she not only felt accomplished, she also knew she still had plenty to prove to her coworkers, colleagues, and clients.

Soon after graduating from Texas Tech University with a master’s degree in personal financial planning, DeLapp joined the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Financial Planning Association, serving on its special events committee. In 2021, she was nominated and appointed to the Texas Tech Personal Financial Planning Alumni Advisory Board.

“I am a naturally social person and I enjoy learning from my peers about the industry. Those organizations were perfect avenues for me to expand my knowledge base and network,” said DeLapp, now 28.

But she’s no mere joiner, clocking time on committees purely for self-promotion. DeLapp is a doer, leading SFMG’s recruiting efforts, visiting college campuses around the state of Texas to talk with soon-to-be graduates about the opportunities a multigenerational firm like SFMG has to offer. She also serves as student success coach for a first-generation college student at a local nonprofit organization, Hendrick Scholarship Foundation.

Back at SFMG, she is the chair of the firm’s marketing, investment and ESG investing committees. “SFMG is a regional firm right now and in the next few years our plan is to keep expanding across Texas. In the future, however, the goal is to have a national presence and be a national name,” DeLapp said.
